Sony Xarina™ technology in Grundig IP cameras

Grundig’s new IP camera range uses Sony Xarina™ digital signal processing (DSP) technology, with 1.3MP and 2MP Sony Exmor™ CMOS sensor options. Xarina™ DSP is an all-in-one IP camera platform, combining image signal processing (ISP) and video stream encoding. It produces exceptional low light performance and wide dynamic range (WDR).

“Xarina™ options are available on Grundig box cameras, indoor fixed domes, outdoor vandal domes and outdoor bullet cameras,” explained Andreas Franusic, product manager at Grundig. “Xarina™ makes the Grundig cameras extremely sensitive in low light. 3D Noise Reduction lowers the noise caused by chroma gain control, improving its signal to noise ratio and low-light sensitivity. The cameras will also run at up to 60FPS, increasing sensitivity again and reducing motion blur. As light levels drop, the camera will remains in its colour mode for longer, with improved visibility, before IR illumination is activated.

“The Quad Scan WDR, enabled by the Sony Exmor™ CMOS sensor, produces excellent image quality in high-contrast, heavily back lit scenes. We have kept the 1.3MP box camera option in our portfolio because its larger, 1/3” sensor increases sensitivity still further, producing colour images at 0.03Lux.”

The Xarina™ IP camera range produces quad, Progressive Scan video streams in H.264 and MJPEG formats. Full HD, 1080p streams can be used for recording and lower resolution 720p, D1 or CIF video streams (which transmit more efficiently and use less bandwidth) can be used for PCs, tablets and smartphones which don’t display Full HD.”

True day / night functionality and IR LED illumination are standard across the range. SD/SDHC card slots, PoE and ONVIF Profile S integration are included, with webserver access to remotely view, monitor and control Grundig cameras.
